Poly-Supreme delivers industrial drainage solution for Stublach gas storage facility development

Polytech specified Poly-Supreme to facilitate the construction of several wells at the new gas storage facility
Surface drainage specialist, Polytech, has conducted a value engineering exercise on behalf of Dew Construction (Oldham) Limited, to deliver high performance drainage during the construction of a new gas storage facility in Stublach, Cheshire. Dew Construction consulted Polytech to review the original channel specification, which led to the identification of EN1500 Poly-Supreme as a more cost-effective solution.
As part of the gas storage facility development, Dew Construction was commissioned to construct six wells. As the drilling operation to construct the wells generates a significant amount of waste, Dew required a cost-effective drainage system that would help keep the site clear. Polytech recommended Poly-Supreme as a high performance and economic solution to meet the project’s temporary drainage needs.
Jim Potts, marketing and submissions manager of Dew Construction (Oldham) Limited, comments: “Having worked with Polytech on a number of previous projects, we were confident that they would provide the most cost-effective solution to meet our requirements. Polytech lived up to our expectations by specifying its EN1500 Poly-Supreme drainage channel, which was backed up with excellent technical advice and support.”
Manufactured from non-porous polymer concrete, Poly-Supreme was specified for its low absorption and resistance to corrosion, which ensures the efficient collection and evacuation of fluid. Furthermore, its F900kn loading was capable of withstanding the weight of heavy tankers regularly accessing site to remove the waste.
As effective drainage was critical to enabling construction works to progress, the system also needed to be quick to install. Poly-Supreme facilitated efficient installation, as its polymer concrete construction is considerably lighter than traditional concrete materials.
Mick Hardisty, Business Manager of Polytech, explains: “With an unrivalled channel drainage portfolio we were able to carry out a value engineering exercise to ensure delivery of the most cost-effective system. Developed specifically for heavy industrial use, Poly-Supreme delivers a superior drainage solution that is cost-effective to purchase and install.”
Supplied in standard lengths of 1000mm, Poly-Supreme is available in internal widths of 100, 150, 200, 300 and 400mm and in depths ranging from 150 to 490mm. Poly-Supreme is also available in gradient, flat or stepped fall units.
